Karengo is the wild nori from NZ. It is a delicate seaweed to be used as a snack or like a herb . We present it in a varieties of ways: fronds, flakes and seasoning granules. We also use it to fortify/increase the nutritional value of sea salt (Jazz Salt) and chutney (Karengo and Tamarillo Chutney).
- delicate seaweed in purple hues featuring a cellophane-like texture
- mild marine flavour that changes with the moisture level: from the packet, the taste is reminiscent of mushrooms; when wet, it is more like mild anchovy; dried crispy brings out the nutty flavour
- good combination with bread, salads, eggs, seafood, broths & soups and legumes
- high in vegetarian protein and fiber, Vitamin A & B12, iron, zinc and essential amino-acids

Kelps are leathery sea vegetables that contain lots of iodine and taste naturally salty. Therefore, they are a good salt alternative for a low sodium diet. We prepare them as seasonings which is available 'plain' or naturally flavoured. We use some of our Kelp seasonings to flavour our Furikake range.
- Kelp is a family of seaweeds with many varieties with different taste, colour and texture; Japanese people call it 'kombu'
- Kelp is the seaweed (and the food) with the most natural iodine; it is also an excellent source of minerals & trace, vitamins and detoxifying fibre
- Kelp is full of goodness but very chewy, so we prepare it as a condiment that can be added to everything, even in baking
- Its salty taste and iodine content makes it a natural alternative to salt for people who wish to reduce sodium in their diet

Other sea vegetables we supply are Agar, Wakame and Sea Lettuce. Our Agar is made in NZ, the best you can buy. Our other seaweeds, Wakame and Sea Lettuce are imported from Asia because their harvest is not currently permitted in NZ; all three are very nutritious.
Agar Agar is used as a vegetarian gelatine and thickening agent in food; it has a stronger gelling effect than its animal counterpart, fewer calories and more nutrition.
Wakame Wakame is currently imported from Asia as its harvest in NZ is currently prohibited. It is packed dried and can be re-hydrated in 3 minutes in warm water. Easy to prepare, nutritious and highly alkaline, Wakame is easily recognized in the Japanese miso soup.
Sea Lettuce is bright green, thin and crinkled like a leaf lettuce. Sea Lettuce is currently imported from Asia as its harvest in NZ is currently prohibited. Flaky & roasted, use it like parsley. Very nutritious and said to purify the blood.

Our sea salt comes from the South island of NZ and is harvested in a way that maintains all of its goodness. It is available 'coarse' or 'fine' and in gourmet blends: Jazz Salt, Kelp Salt and Smoked Salt.
Pacific Harvest’s Sea Salt is totally natural and comes from Lake Grassmere. The waters are evaporated using the natural process of sun and wind. At the end of each summer the natural salt is harvested in a way that maintains the balance of minerals. Natural Sea Salt contains higher levels of Calcium, Magnesium and other minerals than normal table salt, as these minerals are also naturally present in seawater. It is available as coarse or fine. Some people believe that this balance of minerals has beneficial effects on the body.
We also prepare healthy and tasty mixtures with our natural sea salt, click on the links below to find out more about each individual product.
